The region of Tuscany offers a hilly landscape with beautiful cypress trees, poppy and sunflower fields and charming medieval towns such as Siena, Pisa and Lucca. Just as you know it from photos and paintings. The cultural highlight of Tuscany is, of course, the capital Florence (Firenze). Florence is a city that houses countless palaces, churches and museums and is, as it were, an open-air museum with historical treasures from the early Renaissance. Florence is also famous for the statue of David, the Duomo and the romantic Ponte Vecchio. From Piazza San Michelangelo, you have an amazing view of the city. The centre of Florence is quite small and practical, making it easily accessible on foot. It is the perfect place to find luxury items, especially leather goods, jewellery, shoes and clothing. You will certainly not leave empty-handed. Discover Tuscany on foot, by bike or, like the Italians, on a Vespa. Enjoy the delicious Italian cuisine and taste the local Chianti wines, which come from the world-famous wine region where the campsite is located.

The campsite is located in the heart of the beautiful Chianti region, where many Tuscan wines actually originate. The conditions and the varied locations of the hilly landscape makes for the perfect wine growing climate. One of the most popular wines is the Chianti Classico (recognized by the black cock, the 'gallo nero') a wonderful palatable red wine at a very reasonable price. Some say when you taste a Chianti Classico you will never forget it! Salute!

The relatively quiet town of Lucca is worth a visit. The medieval centre is virtually car-free and therefore popular to explore by bike, you will also find a wonderful walk over and along the city walls! San Gimignano, found right on hilltop in the Tuscan landscape, is famous for its many towers. This town was said to be built by the rich in the city, to show their prosperity. Stroll through the car-free town or leave the hustle and bustle for one of the exciting hiking trails in the surrounding fields.
